The DO Vision

What’s Next for Digital Oxford?

We need to convince Oxfordshire that we have a world-class digital industry. The Digital Oxford working group has brought us thus far, but there is still a lot of work to be done to make connections with the rest of the county.

The Jobs Board

Firstly, we are launching our Jobs Board and CV pool, which will give members access to digital talent. Whether you’re looking for a job, needing to recruit, or just to connect with agencies as a freelancer, our Jobs Board will give you a cracking start.

A Physical Meeting Place

While bars like the Jericho Tavern and the Jam Factory have become great meeting-places for Oxford’s digital community, we’re working on creating our first physical hub in Oxford to bring the community together in one dedicated place to exchange ideas. Watch this space….!

Events

We aim to keep University talent within the county by being on the Milk Round and plugged into University careers events.

We’ll run and support high-profile events and business groups, such as Digital Health Oxford in March and Digital Oxford Week in May .

Expanding Across the Oxfordshire

We’ll expand our support to networking groups in Oxford and around the county, especially where there are digital clusters. Bicester, Abingdon, Witney and Banbury already have great digital networks which we can’t wait to tap into.

We are also working towards a Technology Ideas Exchange, based on London’s Old Street model.

Inspiring Our Digital Youth

Right now, we’re looking forward to helping young people make connections, find mentors and acquire the skills they need to succeed. This website is a great start for young Do-ers who are looking for a bit of insight into the world of opportunities out there in the field.

As we become more established, we hope to start thinking about outreach. We want to be going out to schools and colleges to convince school-leavers that there is a future in digital in Oxfordshire and then empowering them to take their first steps towards it.

And the Long-Term Vision?

We’re striving to make Oxford recognised by Tech City UK as the Number One Tech Hub in the country on its own merits. Tech City UK is a publicly funded organisation that supports the growth of digital businesses across the UK.

So it won’t be Silicon Spires, it will be Digital Oxford.
